Description
Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay farmhouse with steading
to north and cottage to east. All rubble-built with ashlar
dressings (house is whitewashed). HOUSE: central, later
gabled porch to south elevation, 4-pane sash windows,
eaves/lintel band, piended roof with 2 symmetrical ridge
stacks. STEADING: single storey with lofts; several roof
levels. 4 ranges built around quadrangular courtyard (entered
from east) and incorporating farm house in south east angle;
additional long range to east separated by driveway: latter
block and courtyard east range opposite, both have
segmental-arched cartways and lofts - the free standing range
has tall segmentally-arched barn door and square loft
openings in taller north section. Plain elevations to
courtyard.
COTTAGE: single storey, identical 3-bay north and south
elevations with central door, sash windows in outer bays
(12-pane glazing pattern retained at north); whitewashed
rubble with painted margins; straight skews; end stacks.
Most roofs covered with graded slates.
