Description
The Dovecot at Mount Melville Home Farm is an 18th-century lean-to structure that has been altered for use as a byre. The building features brick-lined walls beneath an inserted ceiling, with the dovecot still retained above. A new door has been added to the rear at the upper level. The exterior has harled walls and includes two doors with wooden architraves on the south side, along with windows that have been inserted into the gable walls. There are two catslide dormers, each originally containing three tiers of three-flight holes. The roof is pantiled and features crowsteps, with a rat course below the eaves that steps up at the gables. Some nesting boxes remain at the upper level, although the structure is in a ruinous condition.
