Description
Coachman's Cottage is a two-storey, three-bay house from the late 17th century, with a two-bay wing to the north and a rectangular plan. The exterior is harled with stone surrounds and features an early 19th century pilastered doorpiece.
On the west elevation, the two-storey section is to the right, with a central window that was once a door. The doorpiece is corniced and pilastered, adorned with foliate medallions. There is a metal boot scrape to the left of the former door, with ground floor windows on either side and a small window or former chute to the far left. The first floor has single windows to the left and right of the door, positioned close to the eaves. The lower section to the far left includes a window that was once a door on the right, with chamfered surrounds and a small window to the left. A swept harled wall extends westwards, topped with stone coping, and there is a replacement decorative metal pedestrian gate.
The north elevation was not seen in 2001. The east elevation features a central door with flanking windows and three first floor windows. There is a modern porch at the centre, and the two-bay wing to the north has a door to the left and two windows to the right, along with a modern dormer window set into the roof.
The south elevation is attached to Snuff Cottage, with raggles of a former building visible. The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case, and the roofs are pitched with clay pantiles. There are gable end stacks on both the house and the west wing.
The interior was not seen in 2001.
