Description
Sawmill Cottage is an 18th-century single-storey, three-bay cottage that has been altered and extended at the rear. It is located on a corner site and features a steeply-pitched piended roof with a ridge stack. The exterior is constructed of random rubble with large droved sandstone quoins.
The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, is symmetrical, featuring a deep-set timber door at the center flanked by windows in the outer bays. On the south elevation, there is a window to the right, along with an extension on the outer right. The north elevation has an altered window to the left, with an extension beyond it on the left side.
The cottage has 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows on the west and south elevations. The roof is covered with clay pantiles, and there are rubble stacks with cans. Additionally, there is a semicircular-coped rubble boundary wall surrounding the property.
