Description
35 Spylaw Street is an earlier 19th century cottage with a late 19th century extension at the rear, featuring a piend roof. The building is a single storey structure, rising to two storeys at the back, and has an L-shaped plan with three bays and gable-head stacks. It is constructed from painted coursed sandstone rubble, with droved quoins and dressings.
There are two steps leading up to a central two-leaf timber-boarded door, which has a border-glazed inner door and a small-paned fanlight above. The windows on the south (front) side are four-pane timber sash and case, while the rear exhibits irregular fenestration and some non-traditional glazing. The chimney stacks are made of brick, with the left stack rendered, and they have clay cans. The roof is covered with graded grey slates and features ashlar coped skews.
