Pond Cottage, Low Causeway, Culross

Pond Cottage, built in the mid 18th to early 19th century, is surrounded by tall sandstone rubble boundary walls on the north (Low Causeway), east (Station Path), south, and west sides, which are stepped in places. A grassy path runs between the boundary wall and the pond on the east, south, and west sides, with a tall hedge along the north perimeter of the pond and additional hedges partially on the east, south, and west. There is a stone embankment wall at the pond. In front of Pond Cottage, a gate and steps are located in the center of the north hedge. There is also a doorway to the east in the north boundary wall facing Low Causeway, featuring an advanced dressed stone door surround to the south. The lintel above the doorway is made of re-used stone and is carved with a coat of arms and the initials 'MEB' and 'MC', dated 1599.
