Description

The Ship Inn is an early 19th century public house located at 16 Halketshall in Limekilns, with later alterations. It is a two-storey, four-bay building with a square plan and additional structures at the rear. The exterior features white rendered walls, a black painted base course on the main elevation, and black painted window sills.

On the south elevation, there is a replacement two-leaf door located at the third bay, with two windows to the left and one to the right. Above, there are four windows centered on the first floor, and a pub sign is positioned above the door.

The west elevation includes a central door with a window above it. To the left, there is a two-storey wing with a bipartite window on the first floor. A single-storey modern extension provides access to the pub kitchen and a flat above.

The north elevation features an advanced rear gable wing on the right, with a small first-floor window to the left. There is a modern flat-roofed extension attached to the gable, and a pitched extension to the left that runs parallel to the pub, which has two first-floor windows and a flat-roofed porch addition at ground level.

The east elevation was not visible as of 2000. The building predominantly has four-pane timber sash and case windows with horns. The roof is covered with purple grey slate laid in diminishing courses, with clay ridge tiles, smooth skews, and block skewputts. There are gable apex stacks, a ridge stack to the left, polygonal clay cans on the left chimneys, and circular cans on the right. A gable apex stack is also present at the rear.

The interior features modern decor.
