Feathers Inn, Cross Street, Campbeltown

The Feathers Inn, located on Cross Street in Campbeltown, dates from around 1800 and is a two-storey, five-bay public house with a rectangular plan. The principal front is cement rendered and lined, painted, and features dressings. The entrance door is centrally located and flanked by windows, with regular window arrangement on the first floor.

The rear elevation is roughcast, with windows on the first floor positioned to the outer right and left. There is a modern single-storey addition at the ground floor. The ground floor has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, which are fitted with modern wrought-iron window guards. The centre bay on the first floor features modern glazing, while the rear elevation has a 4-pane timber sash and case window. The entrance door is a 4-panel, two-leaf flush-beaded timber door. Inside, there is a panelled vestibule and 8-panel, two-leaf inner doors with stained glass upper panels. The roof is grey slate, with a piend roof and slate-hung dormers on the outer left and right of the main pitch. The windows in the dormers are also 12-pane timber sash and case, accompanied by blind slate-hung sidelights. The building has cast-iron gutters and downpipes, and a roughcast mutual ridge stack to the west, topped with circular cans.
