2 Cross Street, Campbeltown

50 Main Street in Campbeltown is a later 18th century tenement building that stands three storeys tall with an attic and features an L-plan layout. The building has four bays and is nearly symmetrical, with shops located at ground floor level. A two-bay, three-storey and attic wing projects from the northwest side. The exterior is finished with roughcast walls and painted ashlar dressings, along with an intermittent base course, lintel course, and a cornice at the eaves. The first and second floor windows have raised ashlar margins, and the corners are accentuated with rusticated ashlar quoins.

On the southeast elevation facing Main Street, there are two shop units at ground floor level. The left unit features an entrance door flanked by plate glass windows, while the right unit has an entrance door with a plate glass window to the right. Both shopfronts are topped with bracketed and corniced fascias. The first and second floors have regular window openings.

The southwest elevation facing Cross Street includes a two-bay shopfront section on the left with a bracketed fascia above. There is a segmental-arched pend entrance in the right bay, which has raised margins. The gable of the Main Street elevation is to the right and features one shop window at ground floor.

The building has replacement timber sash and case windows on the ground and first floors, mainly with four-pane glazing patterns. A timber latticed door with a radial open fanlight is located above the pend entrance, and there are two-leaf timber doors for the shopfronts on the Main Street elevation.

The roof is covered with replacement slate tiles, and the gutters and downpipes have also been replaced. The dormers feature flat roofs, while the coped chimneystack at the apex has circular cans, and the one at the northeast party wall is roughcast with red circular cans.
