Description
The dovecot at St Colme House is an 18th century structure that was renovated in 1979. It features a circular design with a lectern or catslide roof, built into a steep bank that rises to the south. The construction is made of random rubble, with some areas harled. There is a stepped stone rat course or alighting ledge, and the entrance to the south has been rebuilt, with a square flight hole above that has been blocked. The roof is a lean-to style covered with red concrete tiles, and it has curved, crowstepped gables on the west and east sides, along with the remains of a beaked skewput on the west. Inside, the dovecot has a stone floor and stone nest boxes lining all the walls.
