Description
The dovecot at Pitgaveny House dates from the late 17th century or earlier 18th century. It is circular in shape and constructed from rubble, with tooled rubble dressings. The entrance is located on the north face, and there are flight holes on the south side above a single rat course that acts as an alighting ledge. The roof is conical and made of graded local stone slate, with a conical metal cap added in 1977 that closes the circular apex flight-hole.
Inside, the dovecot is lined from the floor to the wallhead with roughly dressed stone nesting boxes.
