Description

Carrongrange is a large villa built between 1897 and 1900 by architects MacWhannell and Rogerson as the manager's house for the Carron Iron Company. The villa is two storeys high and features an asymmetrical design with rock-faced ashlar and contrasting light-coloured dressings. Most of the windows are sash and case, with multi-paned upper sashes. The deep-eave slate roofs are topped with red ridging tiles.

The main entrance is located near the centre and features a pedimented doorway. To the left, there is a projecting gable with a stone-balconied door on the first floor. To the right, a large and wide canted window spans two storeys and includes transoms and mullions. A multi-paned roof dormer and deep-corniced stacks are also present. At the rear, there is a parapetted semi-circular bow.
