Description
Larbert East Church and Hall, designed by architect James Strang from Falkirk, was built between 1897 and 1900 in a Gothic style. The church is constructed from squared stugged ashlar with tooled dressings and features a slate roof that sweeps over the aisles, topped with a red tiled ridge.
The liturgical west front has a wide buttressed central gable, with a low stair compartment to the left and a three-stage tower to the right. There is a wide porch with two doors beneath a pointed hoodmould adorned with finials. Above the porch, a tall four-light window with plate tracery is present. The tower features a crenellated parapet and angle finials, while the five-bay sides are buttressed and have Y-traceried windows. An apse is located at the north end of the church. The building is linked to a simple Arts and Crafts style hall from 1923, which is a single storey and harled.
Inside, the church has five bay arcades supported by cast-iron columns and low aisles. A gallery with a panelled front is located at the south end. The original fittings include an organ in the apse, a pulpit in front, and a communion table, which may have been added later, along with pews. There is also unsigned stained glass in the apse and south window, a braced tie-beam, and a king post roof.
