Description

James Strang, architect from Falkirk 1897-1900. Gothic church

in squared stugged ashlar with tooled dressings, slate roof

swept over aisles, red tiled ridge.

S (LITURGICAL W) FRONT: wide buttressed central gable, low

stair compartment to left, 3-stage tower to right. Wide porch

with 2 doors under pointed hoodmould with finials. Tall 4

light and plate traceried window above. Tower with

crenellated parapet and angle finials. 5 bay, buttressed

sides with Y-traceried windows. Apse at N. Linked to 1923,

simple Arts and Crafts, single storey harled hall.

INTERIOR: 5 bay arcades with cast-iron columns. Low aisles.

Gallery with panelled front at S. Original fittings: organ in

apse, pulpit in front, communion table (latter possibly

later), pews. Stained glass unsigned in apse and S window.

Braced tie-beam. King post roof.
