Gardener's House, Lochend, Lochend Wood, Dunbar

Gardener's House, located in Lochend Wood, Dunbar, is a mid-19th century building that was converted from an earlier cottage. It is a two-storey gabled cottage with the first floor breaking the eaves. The exterior is constructed of random red rubble with stugged ashlar dressings.

The south elevation, which serves as the entrance, is symmetrical and features three bays. At the center is a doorway with a strip fanlight, flanked by windows on the ground floor. The first floor has windows in the outer bays, each topped with gabled dormerheads.

On the north elevation, which is integrated into the walled garden, there is an advanced gabled bay to the left that includes a first-floor window. To the right, there are two recessed bays with two ground floor windows. The sash and case windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates and has overhanging eaves supported by timber brackets, barge boards, and kingposts. Decorative filigree clay ridge tiles adorn the top, and there are gable head stacks with moulded coping, retaining their original cans.

The walled garden features high rubble walls with ashlar coping, creating a rectangular garden. There are gateways to the southeast and west, with the west gateway having pyramid caps on the piers and walls that sweep up at the sides.
