Hallhill Cottages No. 3, Lochend, Lochend Wood, Dunbar

Hallhill Cottages No. 1, located in Lochend Wood, Dunbar, is a remodelling of early cottages from the earlier to mid 19th century. This single-storey building is part of a U-plan group that originally consisted of four nearly symmetrical farm cottages, but now comprises two. The structure is built from rubble red sandstone with raised ashlar margins.

On the northeast elevation, the U-plan features doors in the outer bays of the projecting wings, each with windows facing south, and two windows in the linking range. The southeast elevation has six bays, with the two central bays advanced and gabled, featuring two windows and a blind diamond in the gable head. There are two windows flanking each side, with the outer right window having been altered from a former doorway.

The southwest elevation shows a former doorway on the outer right, which is now blocked. The sash and case windows have a lying-pane glazing pattern, while smaller openings have plate glass. The doors are boarded. There are diamond brick stacks on the ridges with moulded coping, paired on the south range, and wallhead stacks to the east and west, with offsets on the west side. The roofs are covered with grey slates and feature lead flashings.
