Description

Dunbar Station, built in 1845, is a two-storey railway station featuring a single-storey waiting room, designed in the Tudor style. The building is constructed from rubble snecked and squared stone, with Catcraig ashlar dressings that have been over-cleaned. It has bold gable copings made of Catcraig stone, with moulded flues that have been cut down. The original design included 12-pane sash windows throughout, although some now have modern glazing.

On the north front, there is a projecting window panel at the ground floor center of a projecting gabled bay, which has been altered and obscured to the right by a modern porch. The ground floor features hoodmoulded windows, while the first floor has two windows with gabled heads.

The platform elevation has been rendered and lined to resemble ashlar, and it originally had fretted canopies with glass lights. To the east, there is a goods shed with cast-iron columns and boarded infill on a modern brick plinth, along with timber eaves brackets.
