Description
Port Lodge is a late 18th-century, two-storey house with a raised basement, featuring a symmetrical three-bay classical design. The exterior is constructed of coursed, squared rubble with ashlar dressings, rusticated quoins, and plain margins. The north, west, and east elevations are rendered and lined to resemble ashlar. It has a 12-pane glazing pattern and an Ionic doorpiece that is accessed by a flight of steps with wrought-iron railings. The door is recessed and includes a decorative fanlight, while there is a tall central stair window at the rear. The house has end stacks and a piended slate roof.
Inside, there is a curved staircase with a cast-iron balustrade and timber rail, along with an arch in the entrance vestibule and panelling below the dado level. Additionally, there is a rubble retaining wall with ashlar coping, railings, and a gate.
