Description

  1. Long, single storey 9-bay range with gabled entrance to centre right supported on timber brackets with slender side lights; flanking tripartite windows; further tripartite, door and 4-part small window to right; bipartite, quadripartite and bipartite window to left. Squared and snecked bull-faced red sandstone to base course; harled finish with raised quoins and tabbed window surrounds (painted). Bracketted eaves; bargeboarded gables.

W (TRACKSIDE) ELEVATION: timber matchboarding with dado; 5 doorways, that to waiting room arched; glazed canopy supported by cast-iron brackets with floral detail to spandrels. Circular station clock.

Timber sash and case windows with small-pane glazing to upper sashes. Grey graded slates; catslide roof vents; terracotta ridge tiles. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Chimneystacks removed.

INTERIOR: part seen (2004). Modernised.

WAITING ROOM: timber boarded waiting room with glazed canopy supported by cast-iron brackets with decorative spandrels; later glazing to trackside; other glazing as main building. Slated roof.
