The Pirn, Duns Road, Gifford

The Pirn is a semi-detached house located on Duns Road in Gifford, dating from the late 18th century with later alterations. It is two stories tall and constructed of red rubble sandstone with heavy pointing, featuring ashlar and cement rendered margins.

On the northeast elevation, the house has three irregular bays. The central door is flanked on the left by the low, blocked outline of a former door. There are small original windows to the outer right at both the ground and first floors, while a larger later window has been inserted to the outer left at the ground floor. Additional windows are located under the eaves in the centre and outer left bays.

The west elevation faces The Wynd and consists of two bays, each with windows on both floors. At the rear, the house is adjoined by another house at right angles in The Wynd. The sash and case windows feature 4-pane and small-pane glazing patterns. The roof is covered with pantiles and has a piended design towards the northwest corner.
