Description

The War Memorial in Gifford, designed by S McGlashen of Edinburgh around 1919, features a Celtic Cross made of ashlar stone. It stands on a square base consisting of four steps. The pedestal is trapezium-shaped and is inscribed with the names of those who fell in service. The shaft of the cross has three panels, with a garland carved in the center panel. The arms of the cross display plait carving, which is linked by a quatrefoil design.
