Description
The War Memorial on Ladies Walk in Inverness was designed by architect J H Gall and sculpted by D & A Davidson between 1921 and 1922. It features an 18-foot high Celtic cross made of red Corsehill sandstone, intricately carved with Celtic ornamentation and a sword. The cross is set on a tall stepped base, which displays the armorial bearings of the Burgh of Inverness. Surrounding the cross on three sides are wing walls that are panelled with tablets listing the names of the deceased, and these walls end in square-plan tapering piers.
