Description
4 The Avenue in Gifford is a single-storey, three-bay cottage built around 1840. The structure is made of red rubble sandstone with droved ashlar margins and features heavy pointing.
On the east elevation, there is a central door with a small-pane horizontal fanlight, flanked by windows. The side elevations are blank. At the rear, there is a large modern addition with a sympathetic piend roof.
The cottage has sash and case windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern, purple slates on the roof, and cream ashlar shouldered end stacks with coping.
