2 The Avenue, Gifford

2 The Avenue in Gifford is a terrace house dating from around 1800. It is two stories high with three bays and has a basement due to the sloping ground at the rear, along with a two-story rear projection. The exterior is made of rubble sandstone with harl pointing, featuring concrete mullions on later bipartite windows and rendering around the openings at the rear.

On the east elevation, there is a door in the center, with bipartite windows on either side and above on the first floor. The west elevation has a piend-roofed projection added in the mid-19th century at both the basement and ground floor levels. A door is set deep in the re-entrant angle to the north, next to the original lower door of the house. The ground floor window has been enlarged to accommodate a modern garage entrance in the projecting wing. The sash and case windows on the east front have a six-pane glazing pattern, while there is a variety of glazing at the rear. The roof is covered with purple slates.
