Description
Muirlea is a later 18th century, 2-storey, 3-bay house located on High Street in Gifford, featuring classical details. The building is constructed of squared sandstone rubble with broad droving on the west elevation, complemented by ashlar margins and rusticated quoins.
On the west elevation, there is a Gibbsian doorpiece at the center, which includes a moulded cornice and a panelled door. Flanking the door are windows in the ground floor bays, with additional windows in each bay on the first floor.
The south elevation shows the line of a former neighboring building above the current single-storey addition, which has a piend roof. To the north, there is a 2-bay house.
The sash and case windows feature a 12-pane glazing pattern, and the building has ashlar coped skews. It is roofed with grey slates and has gable end stacks, with original cans still in place.
