Description

Lawhead is a 2-storey farmhouse built around 1840 by Thomas Hannan and Thomas Henderson. The building features squared and snecked red sandstone with ashlar dressings and a base course.

The west elevation has four bays, with a gabled bay that advances to the outer right, which includes a tripartite window at ground level. A doorway is located in the re-entrant angle, complete with a consoled canopy and fanlight. Above the first-floor windows in the two left bays, there are two gabled dormer heads. To the outer right, there is a recessed single bay that returns from the gabled south projection.

On the east elevation, there is a gabled bay at the center with a French door at ground level. A single-storey and attic gabled service wing is advanced to the outer left. To the right of center, there is a recessed bay with a stair window, and a piend-roofed single-storey addition is inserted in the re-entrant angle to the outer right.

The sash and case windows feature a 12-pane glazing pattern. The gables are topped with coped skews that have beak skewputts and finials, and there are coped gable ends and ridge stacks.
