Tighbeag, Main Street, Tyninghame

Tighbeag is a single-storey cottage located on Main Street in Tyninghame, possibly designed by Thomas Hannan in the mid-19th century. Originally, it consisted of two mirrored two-bay cottages and is constructed from squared and snecked stugged ashlar. The openings feature chamfered arrises.

The north elevation, which serves as the entrance, has four bays. There is an off-centre doorway to the right, which is sheltered by a consoled slab porch. The former doorway to the left has been altered to a window, while the outer bays contain windows.

The south elevation, which faces the garden, mirrors the north elevation. The west gable is blank, while the east gable features two narrow windows, with a small pantry window to the left.

The front windows have six-pane glazing, while the rear and side windows have four-pane glazing, all in sash and case style. The building includes gable end and former mutual ridge stacks, and it is topped with grey slates, which have skylights on the south pitch.
