Description
Pear Tree House, built around 1840, is a single-storey U-plan pair of cottages with a two-storey extension at the rear known as Teviot Cottage. The structure features squared and snecked stugged rubble with ashlar dressings.
The west entrance elevation has two gabled porches set at angles in the re-entrant corners, each with boarded doors and strip fanlights. There are two windows in the center, and the gables have stone mullioned bipartite windows with corbelled wallhead stacks above.
Both the north and south elevations are symmetrical, each featuring three windows. The east elevation is blank in the center and to the left, with added harled pentice-roofed outbuildings. There is a two-storey addition on the outer right, which is almost contemporary, featuring ground and first-floor windows on the south return and a gable above the eaves to the west, along with a polychrome brick wallhead stack.
The sash and case windows have a lying-pane glazing pattern, and the building is topped with saw-tooth ashlar skews, coped stacks, and grey slate roofing.
