Bield, Abbeylands, High Street, Dunbar

Bield is a two-storey house built in 1911 by J Jerdan and Son, featuring a square plan. The exterior is constructed of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a piended slate roof with a central ridge stack.

The north front has a doorway with a simple architrave and a keystoned segmental head, leading to panelled double doors that have glazed upper panels. The west wall extends to create a kitchen court to the northeast.

On the southwest front, there is a masonry relieving arch above a tripartite window on the ground floor. A full-height curved bay projects out at the first floor and has a slate roof to the south. The house features sash windows throughout, with multi-pane upper lights and mainly plate glass lower sections.

The kitchen windows were altered in 1911, and a conservatory was added in 1912. The interior is noted for its interesting original woodwork.
