Queen's Building, 98-116 (Even Nos) Kirkintilloch Road, Lenzie

The Queen's Building, located at 98-116 Kirkintilloch Road in Lenzie, is a prominent and distinctive two-storey and attic tenement built in 1887. It features eight bays and has a symmetrical design, with slightly advanced shops on the ground floor, some of which have been altered. The attic storey stands out with a central pedimented three-light dormer, flanked by single dormers, and canted bay windows on the first and attic storeys of the outer bays. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar and includes an eaves band with a decorative carved scrolled frieze, as well as a vertically carved frieze on the dormers. The window openings have moulded architraves, some of which are raised, and the attic storey features segmental-arched windows with metal finials. The attic bay windows have moulded aprons.

The central double shop at nos 110-114 has a shared entrance porch with angled entrance doors. It includes timber stall-risers, transoms, mullions, and part of the fascia. Other shops have recessed doorways. A full-length moulded cornice runs along the top, adorned with four evenly spaced raised pedimented caps, separated by decorative iron brattishing, and features a central integral clock.

The building predominantly has plate glass timber sash and case windows with horns, while the shops have plate glass. The dormers have piended roofs covered in grey slates. The gable and ridge stacks are corniced and feature some decorative polygonal cans. Cast iron rainwater goods complete the exterior.
