Description

21 Ayr Road in Cumnock is a later 19th-century villa featuring a single storey and attic with three bays, designed in a Baronial style. The building is constructed from bull-faced snecked rubble with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof. It includes a base course, ashlar coped skews, and crowstepped gables at the front, along with brick end stacks and 4-pane sash and case windows.

The front elevation showcases a panelled door with a fanlight and a moulded doorcase, leading to a slightly advanced entrance tower topped with a pyramidal roof and a ball finial. Above the entrance, there is a gabled dormer-headed window and a stepped hoodmould. To the right, a recessed gable features a bipartite window with a hoodmould on the ground floor and a window in the attic. To the left, there is a canted window with a large dormer above.

The left and right return elevations are blank. The interior has not been seen. The property is also complemented by two capped gatepiers at the center of a coped rubble boundary wall, with similar capped piers at the corners.
