Description
3-7 Lainshaw Street is a classical tenement building dating from around 1900. It stands two stories tall with an attic and has two bays. This tenement is located at the end of a terrace and features a partly altered shop on the ground floor. The exterior is constructed from red sandstone ashlar and cream rubble, with contrasting red margins at the rear.
The timber shop front includes pilasters on the outer bays and a corniced fascia. Architectural details include a cill course, a frieze, and a deep dentilled cornice topped with a balustraded parapet. The first floor has tripartite corniced windows that are flanked by pilasters and feature Corinthian and Doric columned mullions. At the roof, there are a pair of pedimented wallhead dormers with pilastered architraves and flanking scrolls.
Most of the windows have been replaced with non-traditional styles, and the shop has plate glass windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the original stacks have been removed.
