Description
Gardener's Cottage at Caprington Castle is an early 19th century symmetrical single-storey cottage featuring three bays and gothick detailing. The cottage has recessed low flanking bays, with the door and bipartite windows all having columned jambs and pointed heads. The openings are shallowly recessed within square-headed panels, and the glazing consists of small panes in sash windows, along with a blind fanlight and window heads that feature intersecting tracery. The cottage is constructed of ashlar stone. A small-paned wall-head dormer was added in the late 19th century, but the end stacks are now missing as of 1987. The slate roof is intact, but the flanking wings are roofless.
