Description
85 Main Street is a later 18th century cottage that has undergone alterations and additions at the rear. It is a single-storey and attic structure with three bays, featuring 19th century canted dormers with piend roofs in the attic and a ridge stack. The exterior is finished in painted render with painted ashlar margins, a base course, and raised margins around the windows and door. The front door is timber-panelled and there are bipartite windows on either side. The attic includes two dormers with slate-hung sides and a central Velux window.
The windows have 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case frames, while the dormers feature non-traditional aluminium-framed glazing. The rendered stacks are topped with yellow clay cans, and the roof is covered with graded grey slate. The property also has cast-iron rainwater goods.
