Description
This is a circa 1830-40 villa, originally designed as a church and mission for the deaf and dumb, located at 36 Roseangle, Dundee. The building is two storeys and has a basement. The sides and rear are constructed of rubble stone, while the front features squared rubble.
The north elevation has a later central porch with round-headed windows and doors, flanked by angle pilasters and an entablature featuring a wreath motif. The windows are sash and case with 12 panes, with three of these having been altered. The south elevation rises to three storeys and has a central consoled doorpiece, with blind and tall stair windows above. The windows are sash and case, featuring a variety of glazing patterns.
The roof is piended and covered with slate, with gable end stacks. Cast-iron railings run along the front, and at the rear is a rubble-built sea wall with blocked openings. A large addition to the northeast is excluded from the listing.
