9 Commercial Street, Dundee

9 Commercial Street in Dundee is a mid-19th century, four-storey commercial building with an attic and basement. It features a three-bay façade constructed of stugged sandstone coursers, with rubble at the rear and a slate roof. The building has a lintel band at the ground floor, a wallhead course, and a central nepus gable topped with a corniced stack and ashlar-coped skews. The windows are paired and bipartite with margined designs, and the glazing consists of two-pane timber sash and case.

On the front elevation, there are paired doors at the center, with the left door blocked and converted into a window, both having consoled corniced lintels. To the left and right of the doors are bipartite windows, with basement windows located below. The first to third floors feature paired windows flanked by bipartite windows, while a single window is present in the gable.

The rear elevation includes various basement windows and a door and window at the center of the ground floor, flanked by bipartite windows on either side. Each floor has a stair window at the center, which terminates in a piend-roofed gable that breaks through the eaves. There are also two single windows on the left and right at each floor.

The interior has not been seen, but there is a derelict wash-house still present in the attic.
