Lodge And Gate, Offices, Camperdown Works, Methven Street, Dundee

The Lodge and Gate, Offices at Camperdown Works on Methven Street in Dundee, was designed by G A Cox in 1862. The building features a single-storey ashlar façade to the north and east, while the rear is constructed of two-storey rubble. The east elevation includes two bay windows with single windows on either side, two tripartite windows, and two round-headed doorways set between pilasters. A cornice and parapet finish the top of this elevation.

The north elevation has seven bays, featuring three round-headed bays for the lodge door and a small bay window. The third arch indicates the original position of the gate. The roof is covered with slate and has ashlar stacks.

Additionally, there are two two-storey, three-bay houses to the west, built around 1850 and 1860, which include an external stair at the rear. These houses also have slate roofs and three stacks, two of which are ashlar and one brick. The property was acquired by Cox's, and in the 1900s, two fine ashlar gatepiers with elaborate wrought-iron lamps were relocated 80 feet to the west, positioned between the house and the calender.
