Description

The Jute Warehouse 3 at Camperdown Works on Methven Street in Dundee was likely built in 1861 by G A Cox to coincide with the opening of Cox's branch railway. The warehouse features a two-storey, ten-bay west elevation constructed of rubble, with three iron-plated doors on the ground floor. All windows are covered with blind stone slabs, and there is a band course above each storey. A small culvert for the Lochee burn runs under Warehouse No 4.

The east elevation, which is one storey above the railway track level, has three iron doors situated between blind windows. The north gable has three bays with blind windows and a round-headed window in the tympanum, which is pierced by a chute from the High Mill. It also features skewputts and a ball finial. There is a one-storey, two-bay addition with a door and cornice. The south gable faces Burnside Street and has a high blank ground floor and substructure with anchor plates, a band course, three blind windows in architraves, and a blind round-headed window in the gable. The ball finial is missing, and there are two party walls with flat-topped finials. The building has a slate roof.

Inside, the warehouse has wooden floors supported by post and beam construction and a timber roof. Warehouse No 1 was modified to receive yarn from the High Mill via the chute.
