Jute Warehouse 7, Camperdown Works, Methven Street, Dundee

The Jute Warehouse 9 at Camperdown Works on Methven Street in Dundee was built in 1873 by G A Cox, with two taller warehouses added to the south in 1882. The warehouse was designed for unloading raw jute from trains at the first floor on the east elevation and for accessing the warehouse from the ground floor on the west elevation.

The building features rubble construction, with the west elevation being two storeys high and consisting of 17 bays, including ground floor iron-plated doors. All windows on this elevation are blind stone slabs, and there is a band course over each storey. The east elevation is a single storey facing the railway platform, also with iron-plated doors and blind windows.

Both the north and south gables have three first-floor windows set in architraves, along with a round-headed window in the tympanum, all of which are blind. The gables also feature skewputts and flat-topped finials. The slate roof is divided by five fire-barrier walls, each topped with flat-topped finials. Inside, the warehouse has a heavy timber post and beam construction along with a timber roof.
