Description

The site of the pre-Reformation Chaplainrie of Broughty, which was abandoned around 1670, features a morthouse and wall that were repaired in 1780. The morthouse is a single-storey structure with a rectangular plan, built from rubble, and is incorporated into the southeast corner of the enclosing wall. It has a door on the north side and a small square window on the west side, with a rounded southeast corner. The south wall is battered, and the roof is piended slate at the north end and polygonal at the south end. The surrounding rubble wall has rough-hewn rounded copings on the north, south, and east sides, with a modern gate on the east side that has a step inscribed 'Rebeard 1780'.
