230 Broughty Ferry Road, Dundee

230 Broughty Ferry Road is a villa built in 1901 by Charles Ower, junior. It features coursed rubble construction with simple ashlar dressings.

The south elevation has three bays, with a central door that has a stilted arch and a fanlight above, leading to an ornate railed balcony over a French window. To the right, there is a canted ground floor bay with a similar balcony and a large mullioned and transomed window above. The left side has a 4-light turreted bay topped with a conical roof, although the finial is missing. To the right, there is a single-storey gabletted bipartite bay that is harled. A set-back wing on the left has been altered and is harled, fronted by a canted conservatory with a timber-braced roof, although the glazing pattern has been changed. The roof is piended and covered with slate, with gable-end stacks, while the stacks on the single-storey sections have been rebuilt in brick. The windows are sash and case with a 2-pane glazing pattern, and there are casement windows at the balconies.

The property is enclosed by an ornate railed boundary wall, which features symmetrically-placed stepped approaches leading up to square-section ashlar gatepiers.
