Description

308 Broughty Ferry Road in Dundee is a late 19th-century double villa that stands two stories tall with an attic. The building features a symmetrical design and is constructed from tooled snecked rubble sandstone, accented with ashlar and painted dressings, topped with a grey slate roof.

The villa has sash and case windows, which include two-pane windows with multi-pane top sashes on the ground floor and a gable dormer head on the first floor, while other windows are four-pane and plate glass, all with stop-chamfered painted margins. Architectural details include a base course, margined angles, deep moulded eaves with rounded rafter ends, plain bargeboards, and oversailing stacks, although the stack at number 308 has been cut down. The roof is piended.

On the east elevation of number 308, there is a door with a bracketed gabled canopy located off-centre to the right, flanked by windows on both sides, and three windows on the first floor. The south elevation features a tripartite window on the right with a door framed by the central light, and a first-floor window with a half-timbered gabled dormer head that breaks through the eaves. To the left, there is a slightly advanced gabled bay with a canted window on the ground floor (with a door formed from the window on the right), a bipartite round-headed window on the first floor, and a round-headed window in the attic, along with two large brackets supporting the bargeboards on the right side, which are missing elsewhere.

The north elevation includes a single-storey projection with a stair window on the left and a half-timbered gable head that breaks through the eaves. The property is enclosed by a boundary wall made of rubble with round coping on the south side.
