Description
Hutton and Tough circa 1900-5. 2-storey semi-detached villa, coursed rubble-built with American-influenced verandahs and woodwork.
S ELEVATION: twin central Tuscan-columned porches recessed between 5-light canted bays beneath broad slate-roofed verandah. 1st floor projecting 6-light windows between linking timber baluster balconies.
SIDES: single storey piend-roofed projecting bays with conservatories filling the re-entrant angle. W conservatory original, that to E a modern replacement. 1st floor oriels with slate-hung aprons.
Slate roofs with tiled ridges. Ashlar wallhead stacks. Windows mullioned and transomed, with 6 panes to upper cases, single pane lower cases. Glazing modern to No 242. Low boundary wall to street. Railings to No 240 only.
