Description
57 Forfar Road is a villa designed by Hutton and Tough, built around 1905 to 1910. It has a square plan and features a free-style design. The ground floor is constructed from rock-faced rubble, while the first floor is made of harled brick. The street-facing elevation is symmetrical, with a central door that is recessed and flanked by five-light timber mullioned and transomed canted bays. There is a broad verandah that has been clad with modern tiles.
On the first floor, there are timber balusters and a long five-light mullioned and transomed window with canted ends, which is linked by a broad segmental arch. The windows on the sides and rear are simpler in design. A leaded glass window is located on the rear staircase.
The roof is piended and covered with slate, featuring exceptionally broad eaves. The chimney stacks are missing. The property is enclosed by low coursed rubble boundary walls, which have been later heightened to meet the Kingsway.
