Stobsmuir Water Works, Clepington Road, Dundee

Stobsmuir Water Works, located on Clepington Road in Dundee, was rebuilt by David Baxter in 1908. It features a near-rectangular plan concrete-roofed reservoir, surrounded by castellated boundary walls and towers made of rubble. The elevation facing Clepington Road has a rock-faced rubble wall topped with ashlar coping. There are two small square-plan towers with corbelled-out castellated parapets; the central tower serves as the Valve House, while the Chart Room is to the right. Both have central nail-studded doors set within roll- and hood-moulded architraves, flanked by blind slit windows. The Valve House is inscribed with "Dundee Water Works 1845/1908," and the Chart Room displays the arms of Dundee and features angle turrets.

The southern, eastern, and western elevations consist of a random rubble wall with ashlar coping, and small square towers with corbelled-out castellated parapets are positioned at the angles and midpoints. The reservoir itself is concrete-roofed and covered with turf. The interior of the Valve House has been somewhat altered, except for the water level gauge. Additionally, there are steel railings along Clepington Road, complemented by ashlar conical-capped gatepiers.
