Description
Craigiemount is a pair of single-storey and attic semi-detached cottages, designed by the Reverend George Augustus Haris and dated 1870. The cottages are built from coursed rubble with painted ashlar details.
Each house features a symmetrical two-window façade with a central Gothic doorway that includes a carved tympanum. The columns have crocket capitals, and there is a crocket finial on the gablet. The inner bays are simple bipartite windows, while the outer bay has an unusual trefoil-plan bow window with curved inner panes and straight side panes, featuring crocketted mullions. The parapet of No 9 displays a rose device. Both cottages have outer canted and inner bargeboarded dormers, although the bargeboarding has been removed from No 11.
The north and south gables are plain, and there are ridge and gable end stacks. The cottages have slate roofs. The original sash and case windows have been altered to modern flat aluminium at No 9, and No 11 has a small dormer. The canted dormer of No 9 has lost its mullions.
The property is enclosed by low rubble-built boundary walls.
