55 Forfar Road, Dundee

53 Forfar Road in Dundee is a semi-detached bungalow built in 1905 by W G Lamond, designed in the Arts and Crafts style. The building features red rock-faced rubble with a battered base.

The west elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a central section with twin gabled bays that have timber mullions and transoms. Above, there is a harled tympanum, and flanking the gables are square turrets topped with curvilinear parapets and stamen finials. The entrance door is set back beneath overhanging eaves, and there are slit windows along the façade. Tall tapered wallhead stacks add to the architectural interest. The building includes projecting angle pavilions with three-light windows at the front and side, each topped with ogee roofs and stamen finials featuring metal spikes.

The roof is piended and covered with slate, featuring tiled ridges. The original glazing pattern is preserved, with stained and leaded upper lights in the transomed windows.

Inside, the bungalow has low ceilings, grooved wood paneling, and delicate arches that enhance its character.

The property is enclosed by a low rock-faced rubble boundary wall, which includes two pairs of battered ashlar gatepiers, one of which is missing its domical cap. Additionally, there are Art Nouveau stamen-type wrought-iron railings on the rubble-built walls leading to garages to the south.
