Description
23 Albany Terrace in Dundee is a semi-detached villa built around 1890 by Charles and Leslie Ower. This two-storey and attic building features a French Renaissance tower. The front is made of ashlar stone, while the sides are constructed from coursed and snecked rubble, with a rubble-built rear. The street-facing elevation has two bays; the right bay is canted, and the left bay is bipartite. There is a band course at the first floor level.
On the west elevation, there is a set-back bipartite wing and a two-storey and attic tower with a porch on the ground floor, which has an armorial above it. The eaves are bracketted, and the steep swept pavilion roof was formerly adorned with wrought-iron brattishing. The building also features a gabled dormer window and swept piended slate roofs, along with corniced gable-end stacks. The windows are sash and case with a two-pane glazing pattern, although they have been altered to UPVC.
The boundary walls are built from rubble and include square pyramidal-capped gatepiers, along with wrought-iron railings that have cast-iron finials, which are present at the street and sides, though some have been replaced after the war.
