Description

Moffat Well is a mineral well believed to have been discovered in 1655. Over the years, several buildings were constructed at the site, but only fragments remain today. The surviving structures mainly include a rectangular-plan well house built of rubble masonry from different periods, featuring a gabled roof that is open to the south and covered with corrugated iron. The mineral well is contained within this structure. Additionally, the footings and column base sockets of a 19th-century shelter can still be found to the south of the well house.
