Description
The former stables and gate piers at Heatheryhaugh were likely built around 1828, contemporary with a dated garden bridge. This structure features a symmetrical layout with a rustic stable range and a two-storey tower that is embraced on three sides by the main low range. The building is constructed from whin rubble, primarily coursed, cherry-caulked, and whitewashed, with projecting rock-faced blocks at the margins, wide cills, flat arches, and at the angles and eaves.
On the south elevation, there is a cartway and a loft doorway in the slightly advanced tower, along with single bay wings that have three-bay end elevations on two levels to the east. There are also asymmetrical and partly derelict outbuildings to the north. Some of the windows still feature original ogival tracery. The roofs are covered with piended slate and have projecting bracketed eaves.
To the west, there are late 18th or early 19th century corniced, rusticated ashlar square gate piers that relate to an earlier part of the house.
