Description
Archbank Farm is a tall barn, likely built in the late 18th century, located at the northern end of the steading courtyard. The barn features a water wheel and thrashing machinery that are both still intact. It is constructed from mostly whitewashed whin rubble and has two storeys, built against a bank with a west gable opening at the upper level. There are two small windows on each level facing the courtyard and three doorways at the ground level. The north wall contains a wheel house with an overshot cast-iron wheel that has wooden buckets. The lade is carried underground through a fireclay pipe, and a wooden lever operates the sluice through a window above the wheelhouse. The roof is made of slate, with graded slates on the northern side.
